Remedial and Sports Massage

Massage therapy is ideal for just about everyone, from the weekend warrior or athlete to those with an active lifestyle or the stay at home mum.  It frees up those tight muscles and aches and pains helping the body to recover in preparation for the next activity, whatever that may be!  Massage can also help if you have an injury, postural problems, pain associated with tension, following surgery or if you just have a hectic lifestyle.

Please call  07 5443 5695 to make an appointment

Physiocare offers experienced massage therapists who are able to adapt and apply a wide range of techniques to suit each individual clients' needs.  Depending on what you are after, we offer remedial, sports and deep tissue massage.

Remedial Massage Therapy uses touch to manipulate the soft tissues of the body with the aim of increasing health and well-being.

Sports Massage is used to help the body recover after exercise or prepare the body before exercise.  It focuses on the use of massage to assist training, prevent injury and treat sports injuries.

Deep Tissue Massage utilises deeper pressure and longer strokes on areas of long standing tissue tightness in various regions of the body.

Trigger Point Therapy uses pressure on tight, knotted and painful areas.

Most private health insurance schemes will give benefits for massage.  The benefit will depend on your insurer and the type of cover you have.  You can claim any massage benefits you may have at the time of consultation via HICAPS.

Sally McCallum

Remedial Massage Therapist

Sally is a highly trained remedial massage therapist who specialises in a variety of techniques to address her clients' needs and asset them in their recovery and pain management.

Offering a broad suite of services including: myofascial releases (MFR), trigger point therapy, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation stretches (PNF), muscle energy technique, swedish relaxation massages, through to sports and deep tissue massage; Sally has healing hands and an intuitive connection with individual physiological needs of each of her clients.

An empathetic communicator, with great wit and humour, Sally quickly establishes a rapport with her clients that immediately puts them at ease and facilitates a trusting relationship between therapist and client.

When not working, Sally is a devoted mum to her three young daughters, and enjoys spending quality time with them and her husband Scott.  She has strong ties to the community and lives a well-balanced health lifestyle centred around family.

Sally has worked with elite sportsmen and women, including AFL teams in pre-season training camps.  She firmly believes that whether it is the rehabilitation of an injury, or the prevention of injury, massage is a critical part of being a successful athlete, and also a key driver in emotional well-being.

Holly Hicks

Elite and Sports Remedial Massage Therapist

Starting out her career at age 16 as a volunteer sports trainer, Holly has a natural interest in sports medicine and sports injury management.

Holly went on to study her Diploma in Remedial Massage in 2001 while she worked as a massage therapist in a sports physiotherapy practice, deepening her understanding of sports injuries and management and working with athletes and sporting teams.

Understanding the importance of self-care, Holly went on to complete her Stretch Teacher training in 2011.  Her small group and private stretch classes enabled her to share the wonderful benefits of stretching that perfectly compliment massage treatments for longer lasting results.

Over the last almost 20 years, Holly has enjoyed working with a wide variety of people from office workers to weekend warriors and busy parents to elite athletes and sporting teams.

Her area of expertise is in soft tissue work and her ability to hone in on areas of concern using her understanding of structures involved in musculo-skeletal dysfunction or conditions.  She likes to keep things simple and uncomplicated; restoring and maintaining normal and pain free mobility as quickly as possible is what she aims to achieve for each client.

Holly strongly believes the best, sustainable results come from a multi-pronged approach specifically tailored to individual circumstances and lifestyle and will happily link in with existing physiotherapists and other health professionals.

Holly has recently moved to the beautiful Sunshine Coast from South Australia with her husband Joel and two young children, Archer and Isla.  She loves the beach, family picnics, cups of tea in bed, french patisseries and snail mail.  But not spiders.  She hates spiders.
